Strengthen & protect our families
Susan is a proud mother of three children with a loving husband who fully supports and encourages her to serve their family and Hawaii community at large. She believes our state should focus on nurturing a family-supportive environment. Family values provide the solid foundation needed to sustain moms and dads and their children in our rapidly changing world.
Better jobs for Hawaii’s workers
Businesses in Hawaii are burdened by excessive regulations and taxes making it difficult to for them to expand and pay higher wages. According to the Hawaii Tax Foundation, the business tax burden in Hawaii is more than twice the national average. We need to lessen the tax and regulatory burden on Hawaii businesses to encourage them to hire more full-time workers at good wages.
Bring down the high cost of living
Government-protected monopolies impede small business growth and charge excessive prices to consumers. For example, the cost for electricity in Hawaii is the highest in the nation at 34 cents per kilowatt-hour – more than double the cost for the second highest state (Alaska) at 16.30 cents per a kilowatt-hour. We can and must do more to lower the cost of food, energy, shipping, and housing.
Susan is passionate, committed, and a proven problem solver.
